Boots

I'm baack!

Just spent a long weekend in San Francisco with some old friends, two of which, currently live in the city.  Such a great time and FAB food accompanied with lots o' wine!  It's a neat city and Napa is just a short escape away.  I feel a little more "cooler" every time I leave there and am inspired to spice up my wardrobe with a little less "mainstream" items.  My current craving...

SUTRO boots: handmade in San Francisco

I stumbled upon these in the Haight at a cute little shoe shop with a large section of Sutro boots.  Not regretting this purchase!

My next pair will be these...

Power of Pink

Lately, I am loving pink.  I'm using it as a neutral and it does not look feminine matched with my grey and muted tones in my living room.  My recent purchase of these (it took some courage) to dress up my sofa, have me craving more.

Some type of pink wallpaper in a bathroom maybe...

Muted pink walls... I think so.

I've used this image before and can't wait to get bolster pillows similar to these made for my couch. Pink walls, grey trim...

Pink curtains...

Albert Hadley

I was so sad to learn last week of the death of Albert Hadley (1921-2012). He was a true southern interior designer raised in Nashville, Tennessee (I was ecstatic when I learned he lived a block from my house).  He studied at Peabody College and then Parsons School of Design in New York, where he also later taught.  Known for his modernistic and classic designs, he partnered with Sister Parish in the 1960's, whose work was more of an English style. This dynamic pair worked together for 33 years.  His celebrity clientele includes:  Oscar de la Renta, the Rockefellers, the Kennedys, and other high society politicos.  He recently donated some of his sketch collections to the Nashville Library.

Trip to Jackson

Our one week vacay in Jackson made up for this mild southern winter.  I was delightfully reminded of my love for the mountains.  I ate my way through the week with skiing in between and lots of good QT with old friends.

Breakfast with Bunny

I have had the pleasure of spending the last two days, on and off, with Bunny Williams.  My goodness!  She came in town yesterday to present Albert Hadley's collection of personal sketches to the Nashville library.  While here, she stayed at the home of a friend.  What a treat!  I did have the opportunity to pick her brain about design and make small talk about you name it.  She is delightful and elegant and poised with southern charm.  Great advice and two signed books later, I have much to take away from our visit to say the least.

Black and White Inspiration

There is something about crisp white with black trimmings.

Chevron

A chevron pattern adds dimension and pizazz to a quiet, neutral palette.

I just bought this little rug to spice up my bland kitchen.  It's an inexpensive alternative...
to these painted kitchen floors that are oh so dreamy.

The New Year

Happy New Year!  I have many resolutions for 2012 that I WILL follow through with, as always.  A few at the top of my list consists of: start a company, read more, document more of my life (scrapbook!), shop less, give more of my time to others in need, travel (on a budget), write more letters, under promise- over deliver, and most importantly, continue to count my blessings.  Whew.
