All Things Masculine

My boyfriend just moved in to a new office and I get to help with his office furnishings.  Working with a small budget, there will be a combination of attic finds, flea market treasures and hand-me-downs. And a HUGE bonus- the building is a statement in itself (once the Old Stone Fort in the Civil War) with exposed brick, huge timbers and the unbelievable original hardwoods.  It is going to look masculine chic to say the least.  Some of my ideas below.

Lots of taxidermy going on here
masculine bird prints
Vintage card catalog

Conference table: Love it with contemporary chairs

leather couch option
vintage silver trophies

another leather couch option

tripod lamp

Table

vintage flag

Two things we already have:

My roommate gave up her brand new cowhide rug because her boyfriend despised it. Score! It will be perfect for the space.

Some vintage suitcases to stack as side tables found in his mother's attic.

EmersonMade.

I have a small crush on Emerson Frye in regards to her style and designs.  She is owner and creator of EmersonMade., an online clothing site launched back in 2009 after she was frequently stopped on the streets in Manhattan by people in awe of her enormously bright flower broaches.  From there, it grew to clothing, shoes and accessories.  After reading this article on she and her husband and their New Hampshire farm house in Boston Magazine, my crush has grown to envy.

She and her husband on their self sustainable farm.

Below are some photos of Emerson and her line on her website.

Taylor Swift's New Nashville Home

I just saw that T. Swift bought a house in Belle Meade that I drive by every day.  Rumors are that she purchased the 5,601-square-foot, $2.5 million historic house for her parents.  Read here.

"A Toehold in Paris"

I read this article back a few months ago in the NY Times and came across it again today.  Kein Cross, a New York based interior designer, found this small, run down "carriage house"  in Paris and knew instantly his lifelong dream of living there would come true.   With a $25,000 budget, he recreated this eye sore in to a perfect little Paris escape.  I am totally inspired.  Read the full article here

Hint of Color

I like the idea of introducing a small amount of color to a room while staying true to my neutral roots.

Navy

Heading to Nantucket next month makes me feel inclined to incorporate a little navy in my life.  And just that I will do.
